Rhinoplasty / Nosejob

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that improves the shape, size, or function of the nose. It can be performed for cosmetic reasons or to correct breathing problems caused by a deviated septum (Septoplasty).

Who Needs Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty may be recommended if you have:

  • Difficulty breathing due to a deviated septum
  • A prominent nasal hump
  • A broad or wide nose
  • A drooping or uneven nasal tip
  • Wide nostrils (alar flare)
  • Nose deformity after injury
  • Cleft nose deformity
  • Concerns about the appearance of your nose

Before the Surgery

Your plastic surgeon will:

  • Examine your nose and discuss your concerns
  • Take photographs for surgical planning
  • Recommend routine health tests and pre-anaesthesia evaluation
  • Explain the expected results and recovery process

The Procedure

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia. Most incisions are hidden inside the nose, with minimal visible scarring. Depending on your needs, the surgeon may reshape the bone and cartilage or use cartilage from the nose, ear, or rib to achieve the desired result.

Recovery

  • Hospital stay is usually 1 day.
  • A protective nasal splint is worn for about 10 days.
  • Mild swelling is normal after surgery.
  • Most patients can return to routine activities within 1–2 weeks.
  • Final results become more noticeable as the swelling gradually reduces over the following weeks.

Benefits of Rhinoplasty

  • Improves breathing
  • Enhances facial balance and appearance
  • Corrects nasal deformities
  • Boosts confidence
  • Long-lasting results

Who Should Avoid Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty may not be suitable for people with:

  • Uncontrolled bleeding disorders
  • Active nasal infections
  • Medical conditions that make surgery unsafe

A detailed consultation with a plastic surgeon will help determine whether rhinoplasty is the right option for you.
